Contraction of the visual field in the better eye

With:

  1. The widest diameter subtending an angle around the point of fixation no greater than 20 degrees
  2. OR

  3. A mean deviation of –22 or worse, determined by automated static threshold perimetry as described in 2.00A6a (v)
  4. OR

  5. A visual field efficiency of 20 percent or less as determined by kinetic perimetry (see 2.00A7b).

Loss of visual efficiency

Visual efficiency of the better eye of 20 percent or less after best correction (see 2.00A7c).

Disturbance of labyrinthine-vestibular function

(Including Meniere's disease), characterized by a history of frequent attacks of balance disturbance, tinnitus, and progressive loss of hearing. With both A and B:

  1. Disturbed function of vestibular labyrinth demonstrated by caloric or other vestibular tests
  2. AND

  3. Hearing loss established by audiometry.

Hearing Impairments

(Hearing not restorable by a hearing aid) manifested by:

  1. Average hearing threshold sensitivity for air conduction of 90 decibels or greater, and for bone conduction to corresponding maximal levels, in the better ear, determined by the simple average of hearing threshold levels at 500, 1000, and 2000hz. (see 2.00B1)
  2. OR

  3. Speech discrimination scores of 40 percent or less in the better ear.
