SOCIAL SECURITY HEARING OFFICES

In Michigan, when you file your initial claim for SSD and or SSI disability benefits, you file at a local office.  If your initial disability SSD and/or SSI application is denied, you have 60 days to file an appeal called a Request for Hearing.  When you file this appeal, your case will proceed to a hearing office.  The hearing offices used to be called ODAR offices which stood for Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.  Now, the hearing offices are technically called OHO offices which stands for Office of Hearings Operations.  Ironically, the Social Security Administration is still sending letters with the old ODAR name in their notices but that will phase out over time.

The ODAR or OHO offices are hearing offices where your case will be heard before an Administrative Law Judge.  Each Judge conducts his or her hearing differently from other Judges.  Each ODAR or OHO office handles appeals from local Social Security Field Offices where you original claim was denied.  The OHO hearing offices are located at the following addresses and hold disability hearings for the following geographical areas:
